Why choose a guided tour
Guides have priority to buy tickets to touristic sites. Your guide will go right up to the ticket window, buy your tickets, and lead you in ahead of the crowds.
Guides know how to use your precious travel time most efficiently—no need for backtracking or waiting needlessly in traffic when a better itinerary would have spared you.
Guides know the tricks of the trade and the current situation. They know for example at what time you have to be at a museum to avoid the busiest times.
Guides know all the best photography angles and locations. Want good souvenir shots without the hassle? Want to know if it’s culturally appropriate to take that shot? Ask our guide.
Guides can find the café, restaurant, or shop that is just right for your taste because they know them all. Tell them what you like, and they’ll take you there.
How we choose a Guide
Turkey has thousands of licensed tour guides. Our Turkish Tour Guide List includes the tour guides we know personally. It is in no way a complete list, but it represents the connections we have made in my many years traveling throughout Turkey. We choose a guide who is specialised in the area you’re traveling.
Tourist guides in Turkey are required by law to complete a rigorous training program of several years and to obtain an official government tour guide’s license. It is against the law for anyone who has not been trained and licensed to function as a tourist guide in Turkey. As anyone who has ever employed a guide knows, it is not just a guide’s knowledge that makes a tour successful, but also his or her personality and sensitivity to your needs and wants.

We use highly recommended local 3,4 or 5* hotels with at least a recommendation of 4 out of 5
In some historical towns we use historical boutique hotels to let you taste the atmosphere of that era.
Where possible the hotels are in or in walking distance of the old town.
We’re surching for hotels where you’ll feel at home, even when you stay for one night.
How we choose our busses
First of all the vehicles must be new with all comfort and latest safety technologies and are periodically maintained and inspected.
An experienced and safe driver with all licenses needed for tourism. You have to feel comfy in our busses and enjoy what you see on your way and not your eyes constantly on the driver.
How we put together the itinerary
Our aim is a program that you’ll have enough time to enjoy for what you will see instead of rushing from one to another.
With small groups we have the possibilities to show you places which are not in the program because we don’t cram our program.
Why NO SALES of carpets, gold jewellery or leather
We’re not selling shopping tours but cultural tours.
High commissions are paid to travel agents and guides. These commissions come from your wallet.
We do NOT mediate in expensive purchases
We support small local entrepreneurs with traditional products such as wine, cheese, pottery etc.

Note: In our trips we like to let you try the local kitchen. If you are vegan, vegetarian or if you have a special diet, don’t forget that in the non-touristic areas the possibilities are very limited. ETD-Travel notifies the hotels and the guides often know how to choose the right restaurant for you.
